A Kanakuk Snow Day?

Kanakuk was once again dusted with a layer of snow this morning and it made me wonder what kamp would be like with snow.  Think about it.  Snow ball fights at free time.  Bobsled runs on the waterslide.  Ice hockey on the tennis courts.  Arctic putt-putt.  Air It Out football on Lambeau Field.  The possibilities are limitless. 

Even though it would be a blast to have a snow day at K-Kountry this summer, this white fluffy stuff has made me yearn even more for the sunny days of summer!  The refreshing dips in the new pool.  The new Gospel Skit.  The friends. The laughter.  The memories.  Kamp is right around the corner and it can’t get here fast enough.  Come on summer….

Look where Harry & Bummer ended up this time…

K-Kountry in Haiti

On January 5th, Allen Tignor and Jonathan Pierce (both K-Kountry Leadership guys) left the country to spend the next 4 months in the country of Haiti.  Allen and Jonathan are working at an orphanage called Canaan about 50 miles north of Port-A-Prince.  Little did they know that a 7.0 earthquake would hit the country a week after they got there.

From reports that we have received, Allen, Jonathan, and the orphanage are OK but they have asked for our prayers as they help the people of Haiti.  To find our more about Canaan or to help financially in the relief effort, go here.

Also, for the past 10 years, Kanakuk has supported 18 schools, 258 dedicated teachers, and over 6,000 hungry kids in Haiti.  To find out more about Kanakuk’s work in Haiti, go here.

The Sparks’ on National TV

The rumors are true…K-Kountry’s very own Sparky and Rachel were spotted on national TV (Fox) last week at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Arizona. 

As you can tell, Sparky is not happy about the pass interference call that was just made but Rachel is just happy to be on National TV!

Harry & Bummer’s World Tour – Episode 1

Well, the rumors are true.  Harry and Bummer have been spotted around the globe and video of their world tour has been coming in to the K-Kountry office.  Here is a little preview of their travels:

Peter Lebhar’s Music

K-Kountry counselor, Peter Lebhar is a talented musician and is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.  Peter has mixed his love for Jesus and love for music into his first CD, Keepaway, that released this week on iTunes.

K-Kountry Pool Deck

Well, not only have the leaves been falling this fall around K-Kountry, but the concrete pool deck around the K-Kountry pool is falling as construction crews have been hard at work replacing the deck.  It has created quite a mess inside the gates of K-Kountry.  Here are a few pictures of the project in progress.  Looks a little different huh?

Back From Texas

After hundreds of miles on the road and way too many BBQ meals, we are back from Texas.  It was a lot fun to see so many K-Kountry kampers, parents, and staff in the great state of Texas.  We even made a stop in College Station for a quick lunch on our way back from Houston. 

We did a poor job of documenting our time on the road with pictures, but here is at least one picture of the K-Kountry crew from the Texas/Oklahoma Staff Reunion.

Austin, Rachel, and Sparky are in the office this week while Sarah is back on the road this week in Oklahoma interviewing staff.
